Jeff Van Harte
Jeff Van Harte is a founder of Jackson Square Partners, a San Francisco-based investment firm that he cofounded in 2014. Under his direction as chairman and chief investment officer, Jackson Square Partners grew to manage $30 billion in assets.
Mr. Van Harte came to Jackson Square Partners having amassed decades of experience as an investment professional. He got his start as a money market trader at Transamerica Investment Services, then transitioned to a role as an equity analyst. His success in analyzing businesses’ financial performance resulted in Transamerica giving him the opportunity to manage an investment portfolio. He continued to manage portfolios at the firm for 20 years and continues to manage his own capital today.
After Transamerica was sold to another company, Jeff Van Harte served as principal and executive vice president of the renamed Transamerica Investment Management (TIM). TIM entered the institutional marketplace and Mr. Van Harte’s team almost immediately won a $1 billion mandate to manage growth equities. He subsequently joined Delaware Investments in 2005, where he was Chief Investment Officer of the Focus Growth Team. The team’s assets under management grew to $30 billion at its peak.
Education
Mr. Van Harte holds a Bachelor of Arts in finance from California State University, Fullerton (CSUF). He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder. Having developed valuable knowledge in various topics, including securities analysis and portfolio management in his undergraduate studies, he credits much of his success in the investment industry to his education at CSUF.
Philanthropy
Now retired, Jeff Van Harte helps the next generation of investment professionals prepare for their careers through CSUF’s highly regarded Titan Capital Management program. A program he cofounded as lead donor and continues to oversee as chair of the executive committee, Titan Capital Management gives students hands-on, real-time experience in managing real capital. As a testament to its experiential rigor and intense collaboration, Titan Capital Management has won a number of stock pitching competitions, including the America’s Championship at the 2023 CFA Institute Research Challenge. In 2022, CSUF recognized Mr. Van Harte’s support of the university by awarding him an honorary doctorate of humane letters. Previously, in 2012, CSUF recognized him as a Vision and Visionaries Distinguished Alumnus.
