Golf is one of more than 10 women’s sports at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF). Since the program was reinstated for the 2009-10 season, the Titans women’s golf team has had several top-five finishes in team events and, in 2024-25, won their first-ever Big West Championship. Several golfers, including current members of the 2025-26 team, have contributed to the program’s success over the years.

Here’s a look at six program records, including the lowest individual and team scores for standard 54-hole tournaments.

Lowest Single-Round Score (65)

Three CSUF Titans share the program record for the lowest single-round score at 65. Kaitlyn Zermeno Smith, a senior from Covina, California, shot a 7-under 65 in the second round of the Big West Championship last season. She finished the three-round event with a 3-under 213 and was the first Titan to win the individual title since Martina Edberg in 2017. Zermeno Smith also shot a 66 in the first round of the Chevron Silverado Showdown and a 67 in the third round of the Alice and John Wallace Golf Classic last season. She won Big West Golfer of the Year and was named to the All-Big West First Team.

Edberg and Davina Xanh are the other two CSUF women’s golfers to shoot 65 in a round. Edberg, who was also the Big West Freshman Player of the Year in 2013-14, shot 65 in the second round of the WSU Cougar Cup in 2015-16. She was named to the All-Big West First Team that season. Xanh, who is also a senior with the 2025-26 Titans, shot 65 in the third round of the Rainbow Wahine Invitational in 2023-24.

Lowest 54-Hole Team Score (852)

The Titans have twice shot a combined team score of 852 in 54-hole tournaments, both of which occurred in 2024. CSUF first set the mark at the Grand Canyon Invitational in February, finishing in third place. They tied the program record seven months later, finishing first at the Pat Lesser-Harbottle Invitational. Before this, their lowest-ever score was 853, recorded at the Timpanogos Collegiate Invite in September 2023.

At the 2024 Grand Canyon Invitational, CSUF shot a remarkable 15-under par in the third round to finish with a 12-under 852. Gabby Minier led the way in the round at 5-under, while Kajsa Landstrom shot 4-under and finished the tournament with a team-leading 9-under par. As a team, the Titans’ five golfers had 22 birdies and one eagle in the final round.

Led by Zermeno Smith and Xanh, the Titans were even after round one at the 2024 Pat Lesser-Harbottle Invitational and finished 12-under following second- and third-round scores of 8-under and 4-under, respectively.

Lowest 54-Hole Individual Score (206)

Xanh holds eight of the top-15 lowest 54-hole scores in program history, but the top honor belongs to Edberg, who shot a 206 to finish first place in the WSU Cougar Cup in 2016. Zermeno Smith and Xanh share second place with 54-hole scores of 209. Xanh set this mark at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational in 2023 and Ptarmigan Ram Classic in 2024, while Zermeno Smith shot 209 at the Alice and John Wallace Golf Classic in 2025.

Lowest 36-Hole Team Score (571)

The Titans typically play three-round, 54-hole tournaments. However, on occasion events have to be cut short due to inclement weather. Of the more than 10 36-hole events in which the Titans have participated, they scored a record low 571 at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic in 2025. Their next-best score was a 573 at the 2019 Red Rocks Invitational. They finished second in both events.

Xanh led the Titans with a 5-under 139 at the Ram Classic, finishing third individually. Zermeno Smith shot a 3-under 141 and finished tied for sixth place.

Lowest 36-Hole Individual Score (139)

With a 139 at the Ram Classic, Xanh also tied the program record for the lowest individual score in a 36-hole tournament. Edberg previously established the mark at the 2015 WSU Cougar Cup and the 2017 Big West Women’s Championship, finishing in second and first place, respectively. Edberg also recorded three rounds of 140 in 36-hole events.

Lowest Team Round (273)

The 15-under 273 in the third round of the 2024 Grand Canyon Invitational is the best team score the Titans have had in a single round. They improved their team standing from seventh to third place with that performance.

CSUF’s previous best single-round score was 274, set in the third round of the Timpanogos Collegiate Invite in 2023. They’ve also recorded sub-280 rounds at The Clash at Boulder Creek in 2022 and the 2025 Ptarmigan Ram Classic.
